Dr. Janterria Matthews, Clinical Assistant Professor-Nursing at Cleveland State University School of Nursing. Dr. Matthews has over 20 years experience as a nurse. Her registered nurse (RN) experience includes medical-surgical nursing, management, and education. She has worked in the capacity of a bedside nurse, assistant nurse manager, and nursing operation manager for the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. As a community health educator, she has worked in community and population health managing patients with chronic diseases to reduce hospitalizations. Dr. Matthews is engaged in several local and national non-profit organizations that provide health education and services to the community.
Dr. Matthews has presented on diabetes management, blood pressure management, heart failure management, and death and dying. She has strong clinical skills that are rooted in the community where she lives, serves, pray and play. She continues to work in the community as an educator and she is capable of transferring care from the hospital to the community and classroom. She ensures that the students understand the importance of community health issues, social determinants of health, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
